About

Hello

I am a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Development and Emergency Practice at Oxford Brookes University. I have also worked as a Tutor at the School for Advanced Study, University of London.

My research interests are in forced migration and humanitarianism, with a focus on how displaced populations respond to and manage their displacement in protracted and urban contexts.

Before my PhD, I worked as a practitioner in humanitarian response in urban contexts. This informs my approach to research, and I remain engaged in the practical implementation of academic research through consultancy and volunteer work.

I completed my BA Development Studies at the University of Sussex in 2011, gaining a Certificate in Peace Studies during a year abroad at Oregon State University. In 2013, I completed my MSc Public Policy and Human Development at UNU-MERIT/Maastricht University. My PhD, titled ‘Everyday Humanitarians: The act of refugee hosting in protracted urban displacement in Amman, Jordan’ was awarded in 2020.
